When Will I Get My Check
Selling a property or assisting clients with the purchase or sale of a home can be an important milestone. A frequently asked question from both real estate professionals and sellers is, “When will I receive my payment?” This is entirely understandable, given the substantial effort and time invested in bringing a transaction to completion.
Payment Timelines
We strive to process payments for all parties involved as promptly as possible, typically on the same day the transaction closes. However, the timing may vary depending on the day or time that closing occurs. For instance, most banks close after regular business hours and do not operate on weekends.
Below are general guidelines regarding when you can expect to receive your closing proceeds or commission:
Sellers and Realtors
If you are entitled to net proceeds from the sale of a property, or a commission as a Realtor, payment is generally issued on the same or next business day. If you are not local, your check will be mailed, which may require an additional one or two days for delivery.
To expedite receipt of funds, it is advisable to schedule closings between Monday and Thursday. This approach minimizes potential delays due to bank or office closures at the end of the week.
Paper Check vs. Wire Transfer
While wire transfers are commonly perceived as faster than paper checks, this is not always the case. Wire transfers occasionally necessitate additional verification and approvals due to concerns such as cyber fraud, which may result in a delay of up to 24 hours in receiving funds.
